Description

WILDWOOD WONDERS is a 3-day elementary age Vacation Bible School or Weekend Event taking kids on a 3 day hike into the book of JONAH! Wildwood Wonders is where Nature, Science, and the Wonders of God’s World and Word come together to help kids discover the God who loves them!
This event is adaptable to larger groups or smaller groups. You can use this in a rotation model or even in one room! Each day, kids will start out at Compass Point, where they will pray, hear about the big idea of the day, worship God in song, and then hear directly from Scripture as they travel through the whole book of Jonah together. Kids will then move into Glacier Games, where they’ll play games that relate directly to the Scripture passage! At Polar Pantry, kids will get to play with their food before eating it as they discuss the big idea of the day. At Evergreen Encounters, kids will explore God’s world through science experiments that will help them process the big idea. Then at Caribou Creations, kids will make amazing crafts that reflect the creativity of our creative God! The kids will end the day back at Compass Point where they’ll sing and pray together before heading home to tell their families all about Jesus!
  • AGE RANGE: Kindergarten – 5th Grade
  • PROGRAM LENGTH: 2 – 2.5 Hours Each Day
SCOPE + SEQUENCE:
  • Day 1: Jesus Changes Our Hearts! (Jonah 1-2)

Just like Jonah’s heart was changed when he first ran away from God and then was swallowed by the big fish, kids will discover that Jesus changes our hearts too! When we decide to believe in Jesus, He transforms our hearts from a stubborn, stony one to a tender, responsive one! (Ezekiel 36:26)

  • Day 2: Jesus Lights Our World! (Jonah 3)

When Jonah brought the message to Nineveh, he was shining the light into the darkness! Kids will discover that Jesus lights our world and sends us to be lights to our families and friends by sharing God’s love and the story of what Jesus has done for us! (Matthew 5:14)

  • Day 3: Jesus Cares About Our Lives! (Jonah 4)

Even with Jonah’s bad attitude, God still cared about him! God cared about the people and animals in Nineveh too. Kids will find out that God cares about their lives. No matter what is happening in our lives, we can know that God is with us and cares about us! (Matthew 6:26)
